This post is of a more solemn nature…

Today, Monday April 15, 2013 is Yom HaZikaron – Israeli Memorial Day.  This day is set aside each year:

• to honor the lost, who paid the ultimate price to fight for freedom and for what they believed in.
• to remember, and to support the families, loved ones and friends – left behind of Israel’s Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism.

At times like these, I find myself in a unique position because of what I do and the site I own.  Therefore, to respectfully honor, remember and pay tribute to those lost… Say It With eCards offers a good-sized selection of Yom HaZikaron or Israeli Memorial Day eCards in the club’s member area.  There are also “Complimentary” selections that you may send FREE from the site.

At sundown this evening, Sunday April 7, 2013 Yom HaShoah (also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day) begins.  Yom HaShoah is celebrated on Monday, April 8, 2013, but begins the evening before at sunset.

Yom HaShoah is the day – each year – set aside to remember the 6 million Jews who perished during the Holocaust.

In my small way, each year, in order to honor and pay tribute to those lost, I offer a selection of FREE Yom HaShoah eCards (Holocaust Remembrance Day eCards) that may be sent complimentary from my Judaic eCards website. (SayItWithEcards.com)

Passover begins at sundown on Monday, March 25, 2013 and ends sundown Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

The Passover Holiday is EIGHT (8) Days. Thus you have eight days of opportunities to send your Pesach eCards and connect. Therefore, there is no need to worry, IF you did not get your Passover eCards out in time… It is NEVER too late with eCards!

Dear Say It With eCards Club Members:

I have to say, I hate when holidays fall on or at the end of Shabbos. Things always get mixed up and I never know when to send my newsletters so that they don’t get lost in the weekend’s mail!  Nice thing about Hanukkah is that it lasts for 8 days! 😉  That said…  I’m truly amazed tonight is the first night of Hanukkah!

DID YOU KNOW… there are less than 25 days left to 2012. That excites me. I’m so looking forward to 2013 as a year of new beginnings.  How about you?

As always, I hope you and yours are doing well!!!  Most are busy with the year end hustle and bustle, getting ready for the holiday season.  I miss Manhattan at this time of year with its beautiful lights, holiday music and people scurrying around, running from store to store seeking their next bargain. It feels like another lifetime.

Hanukkah

FOR ME… The BEST Part of Hanukkah

Besides the joy and festivities of Hanukkah, the thing I like best is that it lasts for 8 days.  Thus, offering 8 opportunities to connect!

Quite simply Hanukkah will always be double edged *for me* as it carries the memories of my friend’s son’s sudden passing a few years ago. Like everything else, diversity is an excellent teacher.  During that time of tragedy I learned a great deal about myself…

Because of this “sudden” horrific event (he died from a fall in the bathroom)… my Say It With eCards membership benefited via the creation of many more Hanukkah eCards designs and selections than were ever planned for.  Let me explain…

I was so traumatized and in shock that my sleeping patterns were off the charts for about two weeks.  Those that know me, know my sleeping patterns are NOT great in normal times! 😉

During that time I could be found at the computer designing. It was the only thing that gave me some peace as I was able to lose myself in my designs. I look at that period as a time of  “painful production!”  For me… Creativity is like a salve at stressful times!

What does this mean to you?

However, there is a HUGE lesson in this.  I NEVER consider myself to be unique in my feelings.  One never knows what is “really” going on in another’s life or home as not everything is shared.  Holidays are often times of stress and loneliness for many.  This is why it is so VERY IMPORTANT to keep in touch with those we care about and even just acquaintances.

You JUST NEVER know, IF YOUR eCard is the ONLY holiday communication they will receive, thus lighting up their day BECAUSE YOU remembered them! WE ALL KNOW… A kind word goes a long way!  Holiday time is a time to Say Thank You, I Care About You! Just Wanted to Say Hello, etc.

On A Personal Note (My Gratitude Journal)

I’m been keeping a Success Journal for 1 1/2 years.  However…

I’ve wanted to add a dedicated (separate) Gratitude Journal for awhile now. I kept saying I’ll start it at a specific time.  The problem, the year was quickly passing as the days were marching on whether I was or not, So…  I FINALLY STARTED when there were 75 Days left UNTIL 2013.

My Journal is called: “75 Days of Gratitude Until 2013.”  Quite original, yes? 😉 I’ve written in it religiously each night before bedtime ~EVEN on those days that were not so gratifying or filled with challenges.

THE LESSON HERE… THERE IS ALWAYS something to be grateful for!  #1 is always similar.  I AM grateful to be alive to enjoy life’s opportunities as well as it’s challenges, because challenges contain lessons and aha moments.  We learn a great deal from life’s challenges.

On closing… I would like to wish You and Yours a Happy Hanukkah and an early Season’s Greetings.

Sunday September 11, 2011 (Remembering 911)

Dear Say It With eCards Members:

This is a sad weekend for America… I sent a similar message in 2010. PLEASE READ ON!

On a personal note:

As a New Yorker I AM more than a little sensitive to 911.  It was not only an offense to MY country, but it was AN INVASION of MY CITY and my peace!

As always… I hope all is well with You and Yours and you have enjoyed your summer.  It’s hard to believe that Rosh Hashanah is in about two weeks. WOWEE…  On the other hand I AM EXCITED to start over!!!

REALITY STRIKES…

I come to you today, humbly and with heart in hand.  As you know… Today is the tenth (10th) anniversary of September 11, 2001. As a New Yorker and a proud American this is terribly personal to me. HOWEVER…

Because I AM an artist and run an eCards site, I have an opportunity to give back a bit more elegantly.

The horrific events of September 11, 2001 are as real today as they were ten years ago.  I can remember every moment of that day from beginning to end. IN FACT…

For the VERY FIRST TIME… I plan to post my own experience.  I have NEVER been able to bring myself to do that, but some of my Facebook friends have asked me to share so they can learn and get another aspect of what happened on my end – as a New Yorker and in the thick of things.

Thus I went on a search and after almost a week, I found the notes I sent to a local newspaper which did a story on my 911 Tribute eCards in September  2002.

When I think of those getting ready to go to ground zero and the other memorial sites later on today, I can’t even imagine the pain they are feeling. It must feel like a true never-ending living nightmare ~ as it feels unreal to me, so many years later.

With this said: As my way of giving back and keeping the memories alive, Say It With eCards offers more than three (3) dozen 911 Tribute eCards. These eCards are designed in BOTH Judaic and NON-Judaic formats.

Because I am a New Yorker I’ve included 911 eCards designs to remember the NYPD aka New York’s Finest; FDNY aka New York’s Bravest; Port Authority Police and Workers as well as the EMS workers who lost their lives.

Some of the eCards were designed in the early days, some were updated and some were designed as the years passed.

I know I don’t have to tell you… but it makes me feel better to say it:  It is so VERY important to keep the memory alive and NEVER forget what happened on that fateful day.  I was unexpectedly in Manhattan on September 11, 2001 when a previously scheduled appointment was rescheduled.
