Hanukkah – 12 Ways to Spell Hanukkah, Which is Correct? Who Knew?

No Gravatar

REVISED October 16, 2021

For whatever reason, there are a number of Jewish Holidays with different spellings and all seem to be correct ~depending on who is spelling it or who you talk to.  However, if you Google each, they are all there! I guess if Google says it’s so, IT IS! 😉

A few years ago I wrote a blog post about the many different ways Hanukkah is spelled.  This is a spinoff of that blog post as the problem raises it’s confusing head each and every Hanukkah season.

Here are at least 12 variations of how to spell Hanukkah.  Why are there so many ways, I have no clue!

If you search the Internet the following spellings may be found for Hanukkah:

  • hanukkah
  • hannukkah (this is my personal favorite and the one I use most often)
  • hanukah
  • hannukah
  • hanukka
  • hanuka
  • chanukkah
  • channukkah
  • chanukah
  • channukah
  • chanukka
  • chanuka

Hanukkah is also known as “The Festival of Lights” and “The Feast of Dedication,” and lasts for a period of eight (8) days.

Thanksgiving eCards – Judaic Thanksgiving Day eCards Help Share Gratitude and Joy

No Gravatar

I APPRECIATE YOU:

I am a bit untraditional… While many create Greeting Cards and eCards specifically for the traditional Jewish Holidays, I wonder off a bit and ALSO provide a Judaic spin to some of the traditional holidays as well!

With each eCard I design, I visualize what you are feeling for your recipient(s). On the other hand, I visualize how your recipient(s) feel when they receive your eCards. After all… “It’s ALL ABOUT THE FEELINGS.”

WHY eCARDS:

Even if I did not design eCards, I would love them. I love the spontaneity of them, the “in-the-moment” gratification of knowing I can touch another’s life on whim, celebrate with them in the good times and wrap my virtual arms around them in the darker times – in a matter of minutes.

eCards ARE special and unique and offer qualities paper greeting cards can NEVER compete with. Why? Because as quickly as you can think about someone, that is how quickly you can send an eCard and better yet, that is how quickly THEY CAN RECEIVE your eCard.  It’s the next best thing to being there!

So… before I go on and on and on…  BELOW is a list of Say It With eCards Thanksgiving Day eCards Collections.

JUDAIC AND NON-JUDAIC:

Reminder: For your convenience… for NON-Jewish holidays I design in both Judaic and NON-Judaic Themes, always keeping you and your NON-Jewish recipients in mind.

The Thanksgiving eCards are categorized by subject, both Judaic and NON-Judaic versions are contained in each category.

Passover Greetings – Proper English and Hebrew Passover Greetings

No Gravatar

Recently many have asked… “What is the appropriate greeting to use on Passover / Pesach.  There are quite a few.

NOTE: Pesach is Hebrew for Passover

English Passover Greetings

  • Happy Passover

Hebrew Passover Greetings

  • Happy Pesach — Happy Passover
  • Gut Yomtov — Happy Holiday
    •  Response — Gut Yomtov, Gut Yohr — Happy Holiday, Happy Year
  • Chag Sameach — Happy Holiday
  • Chag Pesach Sameach — Happy Passover
  • Chag Kasher V’Same’ach — Wishing you a Happy and Kosher Holiday
  • Chag Kashruth Pesach — Happy Kosher Passover or Happy Kosher Pesach

Hope this list of English and Passover Greetings is helpful.  If it were me, I would choose the greeting appropriate to the recipient.  In other words…  if the person understands Hebrew use a Hebrew one, if not… you may want to use either Happy Passover, Happy Pesach or Chag Pesach Sameach.

If you have any English or Hebrew Passover Greetings to add, feel free to comment below.

If you have any suggestions, comments, or corrective criticisms I would love to hear those as well.

Chag Pesach Sameach in advance,

Roz Fruchtman
